HighCharts - Area Charts

Area charts are similar to line charts but fill the area below the line with color or a pattern. They emphasize volume or quantity changes over time or ordered categories.

Common types and features of area charts:

Sr. No.Chart Type / Feature Description
1Basic Area: A line chart with the area below the line filled in.
2Area Spline: Uses curved lines like a spline chart, with the area below filled.
3Stacked Area: Multiple datasets are plotted on top of each other, showing both the individual contribution of each series and the cumulative total.
4Percentage Stacked Area: Similar to stacked area, but the total at each point represents 100%, showing the changing proportion of each series over time.
5Area with Negative Values: The filled area can extend below the zero axis to represent negative quantities.
6Area Range (Area Spline Range): Fills the area between two lines (a minimum and maximum value), useful for showing uncertainty or ranges.
7Inverted Axes: Swaps the x and y axes, making the areas stack horizontally.
8Handling Missing Points: Configuration options for how to connect lines and fill areas when data points are missing (null values).

Be mindful that in basic (non-stacked) area charts with multiple series, overlaps can obscure data from series plotted further back.
