Redux - Home

Redux is a predictable state container for JavaScript applications. As applications grow in complexity, managing state and data flow becomes challenging. Redux addresses this by centralizing your application’s state in a single global object called the Store. By enforcing a unidirectional data flow and specific patterns for state updates, Redux makes state changes predictable and easier to trace. The official recommended approach for writing Redux logic is now Redux Toolkit, which simplifies common tasks and includes best practices by default.

This tutorial is designed for developers who want to understand Redux concepts and learn how to implement predictable state management in their JavaScript applications, particularly with React. It covers the core principles and demonstrates modern best practices using Redux Toolkit and React Redux Hooks. Upon completion, you should have a solid understanding of Redux and be able to apply it effectively in your projects.

Before starting this tutorial, you should have a good understanding of fundamental web development concepts and technologies, including:

  • JavaScript: Proficiency in modern JavaScript (ES6+), including concepts like functions, objects, arrays, asynchronous operations (Promises, async/await), and modules.
  • React: Familiarity with React fundamentals, including components (functional components preferred), props, state, hooks (especially useState, useEffect), and JSX.
  • State Management Concepts: Basic understanding of why state management is important in front-end applications.

If you are new to these areas, we recommend reviewing relevant tutorials before proceeding with Redux.
